The 2017 Kernewek Lowender is nearly here! To be held 19th – 21st May and it’s time to start thinking Window Displays and Dressing up Staff!
With increased support from local businesses and community groups it’s time to show that support off to the community and the thousands of visitors who flock to the region to enjoy the festival.
With the aim of the festival to benefit the local community we need to draw the tourists from far and wide and provide them with an experience they won’t forget and want to return to over and over again.
One of the easiest ways to fill the town with the Cornish spirit and festive vibes is to decorate your shop window. Window displays are encouraged from at least two weeks before the event and one week after however you are welcome to display for as long as you like.
Along with the Window Displays we are also encouraging staff to dress up for the week of the festival.
Op shops sell great clothing items suitable for the festival and there are dress makers in the area happy to make a special outfit if you prefer. Please ask around if you are looking for costumes as most people will be more than happy to help.
Staff dressing up really does add to the festival feel and brings out the traditional aspect of the event, taking people back to shopping in the mining era and getting a better understanding of what workers had to wear.
If you would like to be involved please CLICK HERE and return your form by Monday 8th May 2017.
We look forward to seeing all your stores and staff looking festive in May
