The Kernewek Lowender Copper Coast Cornish Festival has now been running since 1973, biennially attracting more than 35,000 people to the towns of Moonta, Kadina and Wallaroo to celebrate the region’s significant Cornish heritage.
Run by an incorporated non-profit organisation by volunteers, staging Kernewek Lowender for 42 years would not have been possible without the support of business and community groups.
Major sponsors in 2015 are the District Council of the Copper Coast, the South Australian Tourism Commission, and Drakes Foodland – which has naming rights for the big Moonta Parade and Street Party on Friday 22 May 2015 – and Newbery Chemists, again the major supporter of the Kernewek Lowender Art Prize.
Without the support of these major sponsors, the world’s largest Cornish Festival could not be staged.
